Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology.

From the official Psi Chi website:

Requirements for Membership for undergraduate student:

  • be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program or a program psychological in nature
  • have completed at least 3 semesters or equivalent of full-time college coursework
  • have completed at least 9 semester hours or equivalent of psychology courses
  • have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • have a minimum 3.0 GPA average for psychology courses

Nu Rho Psi

From the StUDent Central Nu Rho Psi page and the official Nu Rho Psi website:

The purpose of Nu Rho Psi is to:

  • encourage professional interest and excellence in scholarship, particularly in neuroscience;
  • award recognition to students who have achieved such excellence in scholarship;
  • advance the discipline of neuroscience; encourage intellectual and social interaction between students, faculty, and professionals in neuroscience and related fields;
  • promote career development in neuroscience and related fields;
  • increase public awareness of neuroscience and its benefits for the individual and society; and
  • encourage service to the community.

Who may join?

Membership is by invitation and is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of Neuroscience one of their major interests and who meet the other academic qualifications. Nu Rho Psi is also open to qualifying Neuroscience faculty and alumni of Neuroscience programs. Requirements for membership include:

  • Major or minor in Neuroscience
  • Completion of at least 3 semesters of the College course
  • Completion of at least 9 semester hours of Neuroscience-related courses
  • Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Neuroscience courses

  • Canine Companions for Independence – A non-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs to adults and children who have physical disabilities, free of charge.
  • Project Sunshine – A non-profit organization that involves reaching out to children facing medical challenges and their families.
  • Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity – A co-ed fraternity that creates physicians of integrity with a lifelong commitment to our guiding principles of philanthropy, deity, and education through fellowship, service, mentoring, and formal training in leadership, science, and ethics.
