Neuroscience B.S. Degree Requirements

Your major requirements will depend on when you entered UD (your “Catalog Year”).

Students have the option of changing to a subsequent Catalog Year (e.g., if requirements become more lenient after you start at UD, you may request to switch to the more lenient requirements). Please contact the Director of Advising for more information.

Catalog Year 2017 and later

University RequirementsCredits
English 110 (need a C-)
ENGL 110 will be taken by all students as freshmen. ENGL 110 must be completed by the time a student has earned 60 credits. Students who transfer into the College of Arts and Sciences with 45 credits or more must complete this requirement within two semesters. Transfer students who have completed college-level courses in research writing should check the English Department to see if they qualify for exemption.

Multicultural Course (MCC; need a D-)3
First Year Experience (FYE)1
Discovery Learning Experience (DLE)3
University Breadth Requirements
Need at least a C- in each course (may not be taken pass/fail). University Breadth courses must be taken from four different subject areas.  Students in a single major may NOT satisfy these with courses from their major area.
          –Creative Arts and Humanities3
          –History and Cultural Change3
          –Social and Behavioral Sciences3
          –Mathematics, Natural Sciences, & Technology
3
Capstone Experience   (new requirement for students entering UD in Fall 2017)1+
College of Arts & Sciences RequirementsCredits
Second Writing Course (need at least a C-)
Must have completed 60 credits first; Only the specific sections designated within each academic term will satisfy the second writing requirement.
3
Foreign Language (need a D-)
The number of courses depends on years of language taken in high school; must complete the intermediate level (107 or 112 or 214, depending on the language)

3-4
Arts & Sciences Breadth Requirements
Need at least a C- in each course (may not be taken pass/fail). Within each group, courses must be from at least two departments. Courses may count for both University and A&S breadth requirements when a course satisfies both (see the rules here).
–Group A: Creative Arts and Humanities6
–Group B: History and Cultural Change6
–Group C: Social and Behavioral Sciences6
–Group D: Mathematics, Natural Sciences, & Technology      (Satisfied with B.S. requirements)
Neuroscience Major Requirements     (need a C- for all major courses)Credits
